Joe Six-Pack and the Dodgers
October 2nd, 2008 was a VERY good day…
First Sarah Palin was brilliant against Joe Biden during the VP debate. Noonan describes her performance.
Then, Dick Morris totally let Alan Colmes have it….hilarious!
And last but certainly not least, the Dodgers beat the Cubs 10-3! They are now up 2-0 in the series and heading home to Dodger Stadium!!
Here’s a good Manny article (thanks to fellow fan KK for the link).
For Whom The Bell Tolls Part 2
This post is intended to bridge the chasm of friendship that has developed between myself and some of my snake loving family members. Firmly entrenched in downtown Phoenix and charged with promoting economic development downtown I am nonetheless an unabashed Dodger fan. Anybody who has been to a Dodger-Dback game in Phoenix knows that Phoenix is not exactly hostile territory, but when I tell you I am a white man…. you can only imagine what kind of persecution I have endured.
The season is officially over for the Diamondbacks. To be honest, this should never have happened. When you have two aces healthy the entire year and play in one worst divisions in history - the Snakes should have closed this deal a long time ago. Here is a quick look at what happened and what they have to do to dominate next year.
For Whom The Bell Tolls
“The characteristic phrases of McCain’s campaign — “we must serve a cause greater than our self-interest” and “I’d rather lose an election than lose a war” — have a Hemingway-influenced undercurrent. Life has taught him not about hope so much as perseverance, not about optimism as much as a beautiful fatalism which breeds its own determination…”

“If the presidency is an office that is earned through personal sacrifice for your country, then John McCain should be taking the oath of office next Jan. 20. He is an outsized but understated American hero. What other politicians pretend to be — courageous, tough, and battlefield tested — John McCain really is….”
McCain - Where is the ad?
Greetings. It seems that school, the pressures of life and vacation have kept our writers busy for a few weeks. Well, we are back with a vengeance and a new feature entitled “Where’s the ad?” Today the Obama campaign may have made its first huge mistake. Please, obamramadingdongs, explain to me how this is a new brand of politics and why he would need to do this when some polls show him up 20 points among Latinos.
McCain Goes To Hollywood
After receiving the endorsement of Daddy Yankee* in Phoenix yesterday morning, Sen. McCain headed for Hollywood.
Good Noonan Article
Some of my favorite parts:
Is he Gen. Obama? No, no military background. Brilliant Businessman Obama? No, he never worked in business. Famous Name Obama? No, it’s a new name, an unusual one. Longtime Southern Governor Obama? No. He’s a community organizer (what’s that?), then a lawyer (boo), then a state legislator (so what, so’s my cousin), then U.S. senator (less than four years!).
On McCain … Mr. McCain provided, in 2004, one of the most exciting and certainly the most charged moment of the Republican Convention, when he looked up at Michael Moore in the press stands and said, “Our choice wasn’t between a benign status quo and the bloodshed of war, it was between war and a greater threat. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. . . . And certainly not a disingenuous filmmaker who would have us believe that Saddam’s Iraq was an oasis of peace.” It blew the roof off. And the smile he gave Mr. Moore was one of pure, delighted malice. When Mr. McCain comes to play, he comes to play.

Kobe Bryant, American Patriot
I heard the clip on Rush today … Cris Collinsworth asked Kobe Bryant “Where does the patriotism come from inside of you” ….
His answer:

Obama Hate in Los Angeles
Those are strong words and maybe HATE for Obama is not what this person had in mind. But this does show us that in the midst of one of his most loyal cities he can be criticized. This was so amazing when I saw it, I had to take a picture. The problem was that by the time I had a chance to take one someone had already made an attempt to reverse the damage done. Click to follow the investigation.

Why conservatives are happier than liberals
I found this article thought you all would like it.
The exuberance displayed by Barack Obama’s supporters might make
Republicans look like geriatric chess enthusiasts, but a new survey
suggests that conservatives are happier than liberals - and offers one
reason why.
Liberals, claim New York University psychologists Jaime Napier and John Tost, have a tougher time rationalising social and economic inequality than conservatives.
The
recent surge in home foreclosures, for instance, is due to poor
economic choices on the part of borrowers, a conservative might think.
Liberals, on the other hand, seethe at predatory lenders and lax
government regulation of the mortgage industry.
The result: conservatives mix a martini and hit the country club, while liberals write angry letters and stage protests.
