The War on Terrorism
I like to use this site for my homework assignments. I have an essay to write and I chose the topic “Should the U.S. continue the “War on Terrorism?” to write on.
I have been thinking of attacking it at two angles, the first being, No it shouldn’t. Why? well because terrorism is not something you wage war against, also the term “War on Terror” I believe has hurt the cause more than it has to help unify the people behind stopping it.
The other angle would be too assume that the “War on Terrorism” is just the term given to everything that is being done, and argue that we should continue and improve our efforts at this.
Wanted to bounce these ideas off of you, and see if you had any extra comments.

You are right in saying that the term “War on Terror” is a term for the larger effort. The term was selected to convey the idea that this is a multi-pronged effort aimed at destroying groups who threaten and attack innocent civilians. Perhaps it is time to do away with the term (its a bit old), but I would argue that the “Bush Doctrine” of pre-emptive military involvement against state sponsors of terrorism should become a long-lasting policy of the US government. (see Monroe Doctrine)
