Something’s fishy ’round San Diego…

I had written it off to paranoia… brushed away my suspicions as those of a jealous fan of a rival. Peavy’s dominance of the Dodger lineup was not unprecedented - he does it all the time. But, how has he done it so consistently for 3 years? over how many lineup changes? I for one support a return to the time of scuffed balls (hee hee), emery boards and pine tar. But come on, its a national broadcast and Peavy’s pitching hand looks like he wiped his - oh never-mind…
I readily admit that had Peavy been wearing the correct shade of blue, I would be writing something completely different. I get misty thinking about Eric Gagne - steroids be damned.
Here are the facts.
1) Jake Peavy has made a career of slapping the Dodgers around like they were fresh meat in the yard.
2) The Padres suck. Ask any Dodger fan which team ticks them off more SF or SD - If they have followed the team at all recently they will say SD and then spit on the ground. Just saying “Padres” leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
3) Jake Peavy was photographed numerous times on Saturday with half his hand covered in axle grease. He must have been packing bearings while he sat in the dugout.
4) The Padres suck. Jack Murphy stadium sucked. Petco is cool, but it is filled with dirty, stinky smelly Padre fans. I mean come ON! The only thing they can do to redeem this franchise is go back to yellow, brown and orange. That way Peavy can smear the pine tar all over his hat and belt if he wants.
5) Jake Peavy mowed down the Dodger order with a particularly nasty repertoire of stuff. Its not like he had the crap on his hands and struggled… They were nowhere near the ball. (Again, not unusual for Dodger batters)
6) The Padres suck. I know its getting repetitive, but this is the kind of crap you expect from the Padres. I expect this from Tijuana North - not a shock. I can just never forgive them for leaving Yuma (sarcasm dripping).
Here are some links to sites that have more complete coverage of how “scummy” the Padres have become.

and of course, the LA Times…

The Dodgers will get another chance against Peavy on Friday…
“We can hit Peavy,” said Rafael Furcal. “He’s one of the best. But if you put it like you can’t hit him, then you can’t hit him. You can’t think that way.”
Peavy is 10-1 lifetime against the Dodgers.
“I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know,” said Andre Ethier. “He executes all of his pitches. Obviously, it takes a good team game plan to overcome a pitcher like that. You better square up the one pitch you get for a strike, because you’re not going to get much to work with. He’s the best I’ve seen since I’ve been up here for overall dominating.”
“It’s comical,” Peavy said. “When they showed me the picture, I laughed. I’ve got no foreign substance on my hand — period. I have got no problem saying that or being checked any time.”
Peavy said he frequently uses the rosin bag on the mound during a game because “grip is something we have to worry about. But that’s why we have rosin back there; you mix it with dirt during the game and you’re blowing on your hand.”

I read about this… though i dont think Peavy was cheating, I just want to add the Padres bashing as the best team to lose consistently over the last few years.
