Jimmy Buffett In Phoenix

Yesterday, Jimmy Buffett held a free private show for a couple thousand fans at the Grand Opening of one of his newest Margaritaville restaurants.  The hour-long show was held at Glendale’s Westgate City Center and was aired live on the Sirius Margaritaville station.

(Big screen allowed for close-ups … and to later enjoy footage of Jimmy surfing.)

The crowd was a mix of “after-fivers”, who came straight from work and “Parrotheads”, who donned Cheeseburger hats, grass skirts, and carried inflatable sharks.   Together, they had the opportunity to hear Jimmy perform his greatest hits in a somewhat intimate setting.  Think of it as ‘Jimmy Buffett Unplugged’ since he only brought along one guitarist, Mac McAnally, to jam along with him.

 Encore

(Unfortunately for this fan, Jimmy did not listen to him and play a “47 Song Encore”)

For me, a quasi-Parrothead, it was quite a treat.  While I would have liked to join the folks who started tailgating at noon, I was happy to attend after work.  (A special thanks to DD for the tickets & to T-P for joining me - until next time Jimmy!)

Did you eat cheeseburgers in paradise at the tailgate party? Stupid joke, I know.
