NEWSFLASH: Harry Shearer drops hint that Spinal Tap may tour next year
Harry Shearer aka Derek Smalls is on a radio tour promoting his new Bush-bashing album “Songs from the Bushman”. While its sad to see Harry lump himself in with all of the angry, bad comedians out there - Shearer’s past work more than makes up for such silly potshots. Much more interesting was his mention that in honor of Spinal Tap the Movie’s 25th Anniversary, Derek Smalls, David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel are considering strapping on the axes once again and going on tour. It can be assumed that only Michael McKean needs the cash, but such a farewell tour for the band that-never-was is a once in a lifetime experience. Shearer kept saying they “may” do it, so it is not a sure thing but he did mention that he was growing his signature beard back in preparation. If they do, you can be assured that Tai-Pan will be there fully equipped with his cucumber wrapped in tinfoil. Oh, and here is a tip for the Tap - stay away from anything from “Break like the Wind” - except of course the first track “Bitch School” …. “Gonna have to take ya back to Bitch School!!! yaaaa!” Wow I can see the armadillos already.
