McCain - Where is the ad?
Greetings. It seems that school, the pressures of life and vacation have kept our writers busy for a few weeks. Well, we are back with a vengeance and a new feature entitled “Where’s the ad?” Today the Obama campaign may have made its first huge mistake. Please, obamramadingdongs, explain to me how this is a new brand of politics and why he would need to do this when some polls show him up 20 points among Latinos.
Upon sharing this story with my Latino-pride, democrat co-worker I felt compelled to give voice to some of my frustrations:
Some comments about the Spanish ad.
It really pisses me off that the Obama campaign seems to think that Spanish speakers are stupid. Why else would the ads only appear in Spanish? Do they figure that Spanish-speaking Americans are just going to accept what he says and never pick up a newspaper exposing the ad as a lie? Or do they just expect that the whole media is going to pass on this one because the ad is targeted to Spanish speakers? Don’t they deserve to have accurate information? Can you imagine all the digging they had to do through 20 years of Rush’s radio show and this is the best they could come up with? Its borderline pathetic. You should have heard the uproar amongst the far right wing of the country when McCain dared to try immigration reform (one of my own ideological deviations from by conservative brethren). I bet you they don’t follow through with running this ad in Florida – It stinks way too much.
If you can’t tell, this has really gotten on my nerves. Sorry, had to vent.
Notice how I used “spanish-speakers” instead of Mexicans, Latinos or lawn-maintenance technicians? Years of growing up in Yuma and getting your ass beat in gym class will teach you to respect the masses. Anyway, I find it maddening that Obama’s ads are so blatantly thin and pathetic. HE IS ANOTHER BUSH. HE IS A REPUBLICAN…. uh uh - HE IS VERY OLD is sure to follow. In my heart I know there are much smarter people than I in charge of McCain’s campaign, but with this wealth of information to draw on - why aren’t we shredding him everyday with something damning? The lipstick on a pig thing was silly. My friend assures me that the Rezko, Ayers, Annenberg Challenge, disgusting-slimy-Chicago-political-machine-ads have to be held onto for a few weeks - but it is still frustrating for those of us Republicans who know more about the democrat’s candidate for president than his supporters do.
With that in mind, I launch the newest blandlife effort. Check out this little doozy:
Many believe that Barack Obama chose Joe Biden for his running mate to address a profound weakness on foreign policy. Power Line points out an example of the Biden prowess on foreign relations that first appeared in The New Republic’s profileof Biden from October 2001. In a vignette at the end of the article, Biden ponders mightily over how the US should respond to 9/11:
At the Tuesday-morning meeting with committee staffers, Biden launches into a stream-of-consciousness monologue about what his committee should be doing, before he finally admits the obvious: “I’m groping here.” Then he hits on an idea: America needs to show the Arab world that we’re not bent on its destruction. “Seems to me this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran,” Biden declares. He surveys the table with raised eyebrows, a How do ya like that? look on his face.
uh - could that be the stupidest foreign policy comment ever made? I admit I haven’t done a great deal of research on stupid presidential candidate foreign-policy comments, but it would be hard to come up with a more appeasing, wimpified and ignorant comment than that. Don’t believe he really said it? Well, here is the link to The Nation’s profile of Biden filed ONE MONTH after September 11th. This is who Obama chose to shore up his national security cred? He would have been better to have gone with Kerry - then we wouldn’t have to look at that face-lift and bad hair-plugs every day. As Rush says - Biden is the gift that keeps on giving.
So, McCain - Where is the ad?
