The Greatest Sports April Fool’s Day Joke Ever

Thanks to that rascal Orson Welles, no prank will ever be able to claim that title outright - but this is a great one. Unfortunately, George Plimpton’s ridiculous story is only resurrected once a year on April 1st as the pentultimate example of sports gags (which too often include eyeblack or menthol soaked jock-straps).

I had been wanting to expand the sports section of blandlife beyond the existing Dodger/Laker/Dback/Cardinals universe, and surprise- this story drops in my lap. Some duffer got annoyed at a hawk, took aim and killed it with a golf ball. This is incredible for so many reasons…

This Saturday, blandlife.com was represented in the Great Urban Race in Phoenix (technically Tempe), Arizona.  The Great Urban Race is a nationwide scavenger hunt and race where teams of two solve clues and locate landmarks in order to win.
